Birth Center
Our little rustic center is the first of its kind in all of México!
Initially we were just humored a bit by the hospital administration since our philosophy was unlike anything they had seen before. Women laboring and birthing in their private rooms without inductions, anesthesia or episiotomies and then sleeping with their babies afterwards. Unheard of!!
Eventually we represented so many births of the hospital's annual number that we grew brave and requested space of our own within its walls. That took a while but in March of 2002 we officially opened our doors. While we may occasionally blow up our spare inflatable fishy pool we are no longer hauling hoses at 3am on a regular basis or asking for one of the more secluded rooms within the main patient area.
Our center has its own separate hallway and is used exclusively by Plenitud. We appreciate the tasty meals that the kitchen prepares for our families (as well as the other patients in the 18 room hospital) and many new mothers welcome the friendly assistance the nurses can provide during the new family's overnight stay.
Any other participation by hospital staff is by invitation only!
The hospital staff includes an anesthesiologist but his participation is not an expected part of our care.

It's true beauty is not the kind that is captured in photos. It comes from knowing that hundreds of babies and their families have been treated respectfully and lovingly here.
