Lactation
Breastfeeding requires a mother and baby
to be together without imposed "warm the
baby" hours or trips to the nursery due to
the hospital’s routine. Plenitud babies go
directly to their mother's arms no matter
where or how they are born.
Many families think they need an "expert"
to help them figure out what to do. That's
why we encourage you to "look to your baby!"
Your baby is the expert and will tell you whether you are meeting his/her needs or not. As one author said, "The baby IS the book. Read it and you won't be able to put it down."
I'll stay close by for the first two hours after birth because I know that sometimes it just feels good to have someone help translate the baby's instructions!
With excellent class preparation,
handouts, encouragement from our local
La Leche League, and my continuous
phone and email support, nearly every
family experiences breastfeeding success.
